EDIT: Added the shiny sprite and touched up the original. ;P

I'm... somewhat proud of this. :I

I did a different technique after looking at some tutorials that were floating around. I think I got the hang of spriting, a bit. I'm open to any constructive criticism to help me improve.

I have no idea abut spriting, could be better but not bad since you're a beginner in this field!
Kudos to that~

I think you're getting there but the lines appear a little to jagged, i would suggest smoothing them out to look natural. Same with the shade, make it look more natural, make it smoother and add different color subtleties when making the shade color, don't just drag down on the color bar in MS paint. (for example: add some purple when making shades of blue, or add some blue when making shades of red. Just natural looking stuff ya know?)
But its for sure getting there great work so far!! :D:D

Ah, I don't use Paint.

I use Photoshop, and I was just using the Color Picker form the original art posted up here. Are all the lines jagged? I tried not to make them that way, but, as I pointed out to someone else, I use a tablet. I've seen a lot a spriters saying that a pen/tablet isn't the best way to do sprites either. Thanks, though!

I appreciate your feedback!

A tablet is only good for making the lineart.
i would use a mouse to clean it up. but your welcome!

Your indeed getting there, not bad for a beginner :)
Work on the neatness of the lines, try to make them smoother, some parts are a little jagged.
For example the criss-cross thing on the belly could use a bit of smoothing down.

Awesome, thanks for the tips!

I work with a pen and tablet, so, that's probably to blame. I don't have the steadiest hand in the world, but, I'll work on that. Is there anything else that needs working on? :)

Hah, its ok. I recommend if you are using a tablet only to use it for the sketch at the start, then use your mouse. It always takes awhile to get use to the "steady hand", it'll show over time! XD
Err, and for any other little things, I guess you may wanna add a bit more black around that beige part. Can't really pick anything else out in particular!
